What we do

This host performs large-scale active measurements on the public Internet as part of an academic research project.

More and more companies are transitioning their infrastructure to the cloud, often public facing. Our goal is to scan this external attack surface for its characteristics and for potential vulnerabilities.

What to expect

We send multiple queries to the routed IPv4 address space, specifically targeting addresses belonging to Cloud Service Providers. The scans are rate-limited to approximately one probe per second per IP. All collected data is processed solely for academic research purposes, following institutional responsible ethical best practices.

How long will the scans last?

Several scans will be conducted throughout Q1 and April 2026.

Opting out of our scans

If you wish to be excluded from our scans, you can contact us by sending an email to c.p.admiraal[at]student.utwente.nl including the network ranges and port numbers you wish to exclude.

Please provide proof that you have authority over the ranges you want to be whitelisted.
